We love the arts. Especially the visual, creative and performing arts and things that help people feel good about themselves, while making amazing things happen.
‘We don’t believe in making stars out of a few – we’re make creative giants out of everyone’
We’re big fans of positive activities and giving people the opportunity to find their creative giant, wherever they’re starting from. Everyone working with us shares this love of all things creative and making up new work to feel proud of, with like-minded folk. We love public art, creating beautiful work and helping people understand their value in their community.
A little bit of history
We started the Rag and Bone Theatre Company in April 2011, as an affordable, fun and creative alternative to the Stage School model of commercial performance. It continues to go from strength to strength, producing adaptations of classic stories, street theatre pieces and original scripts for the company to perform in Chippenham.

In 2013, we became Rag and Bone Arts CIC a social enterprise. In 2015, we started Art sessions with our very own set designer and artist, Charlie.
The Theatre stories have lots of humour and are engaging and creative spectacles where everyone learns the value of working as a team. All of our productions are re-written by us, to suit the strengths of the cast and to make them shine as much as possible.

We have an ever growing group of freelance practitioners, all with different specialisms, who can pass on their skills and expertise to the community so please also get in touch if you are a performing artist and would like to collaborate.
When we receive funding, we are able to offer our sessions at a subsidised rate, while keeping the quality of our provision high. Thank you to all of our wonderful funders throughout the years, who have supported us, and you to attend our sessions. These include:
UK Youth, The Co-op Community Fund, Tesco Bags of Help, Chippenham Town Council, Wiltshire Council’s Area Board, Chippenham Borough Lands Charity, Trevor Beattie (patron) the pupils at Hardenhuish School and donors to the Leo Darby scholarship Fund.
You may see some of us performing in many different parts of Chippenham – look out for us. We firmly believe in the power of the arts to enrich people’s lives. Come and join us – we have something for everyone.
You won’t regret it.
